If you’ve been following my SubStack, you may have read about this ill-fated follow-up to the original StarHenge series here. I can’t lie, it was hugely disappointing to put so much love and effort into this 60 page mini epic, and to earn literally nothing at all for my efforts. I won’t belabor the apparent reasons again, but instead I’d just like to say how proud I remain of the book. It takes nerve to play with the medium and test its boundaries. This is truly a graphic novella in the sense that Howard Chaykin’s adaptation of Alfred Bester’s ‘The Stars My Destination’ is a graphic novel. It literally contains prose passages supplemented with sequential art. That, in itself, may put off the more casual reader! But regardless, here it is again, for free, in the hope it may find more love online, and that eventually it will help lead to a furthering of this saga down the line. I had great plans etched out. It would be a shame not to be able to afford to see them through to completion…
To be continued…
Picked up Starhenge and was blown away by it. Your artwork (overall) is up there with "The Studio" with the added flare of Sienkiewicz and McKean, without neglecting the nostalgia of Buscema, Chan, and numerous others. It's like all my favorite artists got together and had you as a baby!
So I want to continue supporting your work abut have two questions if you wouldn't mind:
1. Is Ore only available in TPB? I'm an HC collector when possible.
2. Substack is new to me, so I'm a little embarrassed to ask this... But, do you have two Substacks? Just wondeirng if I upgrade, what am I getting access to?
Only asking since TBatB has an upgrade option but your namesake column (@liamsharp where I read posts from you) looks different from your TBatB's page, so I'm a little confused if these are the same thing or not.
Anyway, not sure if I'm being coherent or not...
I picked up a physical copy in June at Album Comics in Paris. The cover reminded me of some classic Druillet covers from Metal Hurlant and had to pick it up off that alone, only to discover the masterwork of illustration inside and its incorporation of prose. Thank you for challenging the mainstream medium and I look forward to supporting you more Liam!
