DON LAWRENCE COLLAB
A return to my roots...
Here’s piece I just finished for the upcoming Breda comic convention in Holland, based on an old sketch by my mentor, the late Sir Don Lawrence. I've been thinking about him a lot over the last few days, as I went through and scanned the various fragments of art and old copies of his pages that I did while I was with him, to be featured in a 32 page special booklet at the show. Wonderful memories. I miss him loads!
And here’s the piece it was based on…
This will also be available as a print at the Breda con in Holland - painted by me, based on a layout by Don. At the time he said this was the best thing I’d ever done, in his opinion!
And below is a small selection of the direct copies I did of Don’s Storm art. He had me copy them directly from his originals to learn how to replicate his style. Sadly, lots of it was damaged by a burst radiator pipe in my old flat in London, back in the late 80s. It happened when I was away on vacation. (Much of my legacy work was destroyed by water, unfortunately. But that’s another story…)
I’ll save the rest of my bits and bobs from this seminal time in my early career for a later, more comprehensive post after the con, but I hope you enjoy this taster!

Majorly impressive!!!
Beautiful work, Doc.
