GETTING IT RIGHT
Or Measure Twice, Cut Once...
Yesterday I kicked myself hard because I finished this piece, but it turned out I had missed a couple of details, one pretty vital to the story. Namely the mention of chainmail on his arms, but more importantly, his helmet - which, at the end of the story, is dented and sparks suggestions that everything he experienced was due to a head trauma.
I was so frustrated, because it has been important to me to make these pieces as canonical as I’m able. And yet somehow I’d missed that in my reading and research, largely, I think, because of my head-long drive to stay in this creative zone I’ve currently been enjoying. I was moving too fast!
But the truth is I was also pretty creatively knackered! It has been an immensely busy year of incredibly hard work! So I dropped the ball and have only myself to blame. However, though I was loathe to change the actual art - on which there is no white-out, and I didn’t want to do a stick-on patch - it is now possible, of course, to correct these things digitally, at least for the print!
So here’s my revised version! Hope you like. I’ve waited almost 50 years to do these pieces. As a fan myself, it’s important to do it right, not just well.
This image is part of a set of prints, which I’ll share the details of once I’ve completed all seven!
More soon!
Cheers,
L

Hi Liam,
I might be forced to unfriend you, mate. I have always said to you, you should be drawing Conan.
I didn't mean this good though.
LOL
You are giving us all the same excitement we got back in the 1970s with the Conan comics and Savage Sword magazines from back then.
They are a joy to behold and add to that you are writing them too.
Hats off you and thanks.
xx
I can feel the icy blast. The way the fabric ripples in the wind is beautiful. A stunning piece, Liam!
